1. We have looked at all of the available data for calculating the weight of a salmon from the length and girth measurements and based our calculators on a mean estimate of that data.
2. Measure your fish while it is still in the water using a soft or flexible tape measure, release it, and then use the SalmonSizer app calculators to estimate the weight.
3. However, it is difficult to accurately weigh a fish which is still alive and in the water, so we have developed the SalmonSizer app to calculate the weight, in pounds or kilograms, as accurately as possible.
4. If it is not possible to measure the girth the app will approximate it for you based on an average salmon girth.

6. Only two measurements are required, in inches or centimetres, the length and girth of your salmon.
